Joseph R. Katcha

Principal

Mr. Katcha has been involved in private equity investing and mergers and acquisitions since 1986. Before founding High Street Capital in 1997, he was a director at S. G. Warburg, Ltd., London, where he helped run an operating business which had over 200 employees globally in a technology-related field. He helped set strategy and was successful in doubling this important business area. From 1991 to 1993, Mr. Katcha was a Partner and Managing Director/Chief Operating Officer in a Chicago-based business, which he then helped sell to Warburg. Before that he was an Associate with First Atlantic Capital, Ltd. in New York, a private equity firm focused on middle market companies. He joined that firm from the Investment Banking Division of PaineWebber Inc., where he was in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department, specializing in middle market transactions. After passing the C.P.A. exam in 1982, he spent two years as an auditor with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) in Chicago. Mr. Katcha is a graduate of the Harvard Business School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was born and raised in Wisconsin. Mr. Katcha is married with two children.


William J. Oberholtzer

Principal

Mr. Oberholtzer has over 10 years of private equity experience. From 1991 to present, he has been with another Chicago-based private equity fund that was founded in the mid-1980’s. Since 1993, he has had direct responsibility for the full spectrum of venture capital and private equity investment management including capital formation, generation of investment opportunities, transaction processing, due diligence, portfolio management and investment exits. Mr. Oberholtzer has investment and board level experience in a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, communications, healthcare and retail services. Prior to entering the private equity industry in 1990, Mr. Oberholtzer spent eight years in commercial and corporate banking. For the last four of those years he was in the corporate banking department of The Bank of Nova Scotia where he structured leveraged buy-out and acquisition financings for large corporate clients. Mr. Oberholtzer started his career in the middle market lending division of Comerica Bank in Michigan. Mr. Oberholtzer graduated with an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and with a BA in economics from Kalamazoo College. Mr. Oberholtzer is married with two children.


Kent C. Haeger

Principal

With over five years of private equity experience, Mr. Haeger has played an active role in most of the High Street investments and has led a number of investments outside of the High Street fund and managed those investments. As an entrepreneur, ex-business owner and investor, he brings a depth of experience and well-rounded background well suited to evaluating transactions, working with business owners, Board representation and managing growth. From 1997 to present, Mr. Haeger was a founder and has been active in the High Street funds, however, not on a full time basis. In addition to being a founder, he is also an Investment Committee member in High Street Capital, L.L.C. and High Street Capital II, L.L.C. Before founding High Street Capital in 1997, he was a Managing Director of S. G. Warburg, Ltd., London, where he ran and was responsible for global equity derivatives. He led the strategy development and was successful in doubling to 275 employees this important business area for Warburg. From 1984 to 1993, Mr. Haeger was the founder and Managing Partner of KC-CO, the general partnership, and then KC-CO Investments, L.P., a successful Chicago-based equity options trading business that he grew from one person to an organization of over 65 people. As the majority owner, he sold this business to Warburg in 1993. From 1981 to 1984, Mr. Haeger, worked on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange as a options market maker. Mr. Haeger graduated with a finance degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. Mr. Haeger is married with three children.


Richard D. McClain

Principal

Mr. McClain has over 30 years of operating experience in manufacturing and service businesses in the US and internationally.  As CEO of a family owned business with 1100 employees on three continents in the building products industry, he engineered a shift in marketing strategy that resulted in growth and market share gains in North America, Europe and Asia in a declining market.  Prior to that, he served as CEO of a private company in the automotive industry, and led the acquisition and integration of several companies, creating a 10 plant operation with 1300 employees serving the entire NAFTA based automotive industry.  He built a marketing and sales organization and a management team that upgraded manufacturing operations to world-class lean enterprises, implemented common business processes, established leadership positions in several product niches, and produced strong operating results.  Prior to that, Mr. McClain had a 19 year career at TRW, Inc., Mr. McClain turned around several manufacturing businesses and was an early implementer of Just-In-Time manufacturing, employee involvement and team-based management processes, and statistical quality methods.  As TRW’s senior executive in Asia, he managed several businesses in the region, achieving high levels of customer satisfaction and building the value of TRW’s brand in the region.  While in Asia, he also led the formation of TRW’s China strategy and led business development efforts that resulted in doubling of TRW’s business with Asian customers worldwide and strong growth in the region across all of TRW’s products and services. Mr. McClain holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Texas.  He is married with two children.


Robert S. France

Vice President

Mr. France, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, has more than seven years of principal investing and advisory experience. Prior to joining High Street Capital, he was a member of the investment team at Questor Management Company, a private equity firm with $1.1 billion of capital focused on turnarounds and special situations. Mr. France has performed execution roles in leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, capital raises and portfolio company management across a broad industry group including manufacturing, automotive, financial institutions and coal mining. Prior to joining Questor, he worked as an investment banker with Donnelly Penman & Partners and in the Corporate Value Consulting practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. France earned his MBA degree with honors from The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and graduated with high honors from Michigan State University with a B.A. degree in finance.
